Would you rather never have an erection again, or die a slow, horrible death?
Remember I said my ex has prostate cancer? I finally talked to him about it, and it appears they have caught it in the very early stages. He says he goes every year to get his PSA level checked (some prostate test), which I am VERY proud of him for (you listening, men?) and it was only slightly elevated. They did a biopsy with 10 tissue samples, and out of the ten, there were cancer cells in only one.
So he has some time to figure out what he is going to do. He has joined a support group and is exploring his treatment options and getting a second opinion. I really don't know a lot about this, and I think that this is a developing area of medicine. Apparently, even with the best surgeon and a trouble-free surgery, impotence is a possibilty. Also, apparently sometimes the best thing is to do nothing, because it's such a slow cancer, that other things will kill you first. Or something. |
umm..let me think about that...slow horrible death, but die with an myocardial infarction while having sex....or slow not quit as horrible a death dieing peacefully in my sleep, cause I can't get it up due to that surgery I had a few years ago......I'll take door number one.

My uncle recently went through this Cloud. It was really hard for him to make the decision to have the surgery. Not only can it cause impotence, but apparently also incontinence, so it's a big deal, particularly if you're still middle aged.
He eventually had the surgery though and he's doing great with no side effects. Like every other decision in life, there are pros and cons. I think the family had a lot to do with my uncle eventually getting over his pride and going ahead with it. No one wanted to lose him like that and everyone told him so. I think knowing he was supported really helped. |
So..there I was..true story...sandwiched between these two chicks having a conversation...when this one girl says something about the topic, and man did I feel like complete heel.
I'm glad your uncle got the operation, and things are working out for him. |
don't worry about it Joe. I don't think anyone minds a joke here or there.
It's a tough subject. A little humour is probably good. |
yeah, I think there are pros and cons, and factors to take into consideration. Like, he's only 57.
|
that's about the same age as my uncle when he went through it.

I wanna live as long as I can to annoy as many you for as long as I possible.
|
well you're off to a great start classic
|

My dad had it. Died later in life from other causes. My brother mid 50's had it, opted for surgery, no erection. Same for a best friend, mid 50's, no erection.
I dread getting my PSA done. |
Your Dad drove a Ford Sportka?

My family has a history of it and I already have an enlarged prostate, so i get it checked every year. My next appt. is mid-Feb.
Not really nervous about losing my erectile functions. I'll just switch to being a bottom. :-) |
