Bread maker recipes?
Does anyone have some recipes for a 2-3lb loaf size bread maker?
I was in the right spot at the right time today, and got a brand new Black and Decker horizontal deluxe...blah blah blah.... breadmaker today for two packs of smokes. Yes, 2 packs of smokes or $17.50.. A staff member got it for christmas, won't use it, and was out of smokes! So.. now I want to play, the book that comes with it has very few recipes in it... so I am looking to add to my collection. :) |

you can do all sorts of fun things with a bread maker.
You can make up any sorts of fillings you want. Just read the manual, find out when you put in the extra ingredients and away you go. Most bread makers mix up the dough and go through the first rise, then there's a beep. That's when you add the extra ingredients for whatever sort of bread you like. Some favs my family like are savoury loaves with things like olives and capsicum and onion. The kids really love bacon and cheese bread, and you can also simply toss in mixed dried fruit to make a sweet loaf if you like. |
I mainly use my bread maker to just do the dough part, then I roll the dough out, smear stuff on it, cut and plait, then bake.
Cheese and Garlic is a favorite here (added when Ali suggested, after the rise beep). Chili and Cheese Vegemite and Cheese Herb You are only limited by your imagination. |
you can also make pizza dough and jams and stuff in most bread makers

Actually.. I was looking for *your* favorite recipes... to add to my collection, and since this one is quite a bit larger, was hoping for some "family size" ones.... I could have googled... however I thought coming here would get me.... more tested and true results.
My first attempt at this was not great, the bread rose so much it opened the bread maker... so the bread is now cooking in the oven (as two normal sized loaves) Perhaps I will try again tomorrow. |
don't blame LJ....he was such a nice guy.....bless his dear departed soul.

You might have put too much yeast in Jaydaan. I did that once. What a mess.
Fresh baked bread is worth the effort though. Mmmmm...smells great too. Did you know that if you're selling your house and you bake a loaf of bread just before people come to inspect it, they're more likely to consider buying it because of the pleasant memories/feelings most people associate with the smell of bread baking. |
