Happy New Year? WTF!
 

Why do people say happy new year? What's so fucking happy about it? People are starving to death. dying of a.i.d.s. Being blown to bits. Victims of civil wars. religious wars. revenge wars. children are living as orphans. half the people you know will get divorced and their families will have to deal with the fall out. trusted adults molest the children in their lives. people hate. hate. hate.

That's all the world is filled with. Hate.

I ask you. Why do we fucking bother?

I believe for most it's a wish rather than an observation.....

And I hope all those people who are starving, dying of HIV, being blown to bits (and their bits), victims of civil, religious, revenge, wars, orphans, divorced people and their families, molested children, and people who hate, including those we hate, all have a HAPPY NEW YEAR. Even the loser illegal aliens should have a happy new year {in their own countries}. :D

Well, strictly speaking, I know for a fact that none of the people I have wished a happy new year are starving, dying of AIDS, being blown to bits, victims of civil/religious/revenge wars, or living as orphans. And I am as certain as one can ever be that none of them are child molesters, and less than half of them will be getting divorced (if only because many are already divorced, often happily so. :))

But that's because I only wish nice things for the people I know and like; everyone else can suck it.



But seriously, if there were no unhappy things to compare to, nothing could ever really be happy, could it?

Life is a package deal. Rain falls on everyones head, as well as the sun shines on everyones head. Ya gotta buy the whole package, to get the whole deal. It's the whole yin and yang thang. Chop wood, carry water.

Wow! Well said LJ, and ditto on the hug. Through all the pestilence, wars, famine, tragedies that have existed throughout history, love has always and will always exist. Sometimes in spite of, sometimes because of, and sometimes completely unrelated. That, I believe, is the beauty that is woven through all life.
