Justify Yourself!

Explain some of the contradictions in your life. I'll go first.

Aren't you some kind of anarchist? What are you doing cashing paychecks that originate as cash stolen from other peoples pockets by the Fed Gov?

You're going to have to want to be spinned to accept this so be more than fair minded. Every federal dollar that is spent brings us closer to chaos. If I'm on the payroll, doing a very good job, I am justifying more federal spending because of my good outcomes.

See how easy that is, you go.:)

See what happens when you don't drink.
Replacing drink with think, often produces strange results.

Griff 12-30-2007 09:40 AM

Now now brother, don't duck the question or I'll start choosing others' contradictions for them and it'll get all defensive and negative.

Contra-Dic?
Wasn't that Oliver North?

Urbane Guerrilla 12-31-2007 03:09 PM

I think that one went, "Ol-lie! Ol-lie! Ol-lie!" I've run across conservative Yalies chanting that one. At the tables down at Morey's.

Justify myself?

"Do as I say, not as I do" prepares kids for the hypocrisy of the real world ;)

Stormieweather 12-31-2007 08:09 PM

Pffttt...I stopped justifying myself about a decade ago. Doing so sure eliminates a lot of unnecessary debate.

TheMercenary 12-31-2007 08:33 PM

No reason to justify anything. pffffffffft...

I've been staring at the screen for ages and I've realized there's no justification for my existance.

I think I'll go kill myself.

G, your matter is what confused me the most.

Radar or some other Random Lib: We're against public schools. Shut down funding for public schools!

UT: But the people voted for it, are we supposed to let the children rot as some form of penance?

Radar: YES! Let them rot as a lesson to the evil voters.

UT: They don't look evil to me, maybe just misguided. These children are our next generation's voters. I don't think this is going to turn out like you think it will.

I'm turning out to be a pragmatist more than I expected. I don't like what I see when I look at politics, but when I see these kids who need help in the real world, so they don't become part of a perpetual underclass, I figure use the system as it exists. Politically, I hate our foreign policy and that needs to be changed, but find the present welfare state when applied to protecting kids a necessary lesser evil if not an out-right good. Maybe I'm just trying not to be a liberal Democrat...

Or trying to be a compassionate conservative

Well that isn't a loaded term is it. Maybe I'll go back to left-libertarian.
I think UT has it. The people want the system we have. We're all kicking into it and arguing around the edges of it. Those who build taxpayer financed ballparks seem the biggest winners. The titular leader of the GOP, the POTUS, talks free market and got rich through subsidy, so if I argue for the market I help support the remora. If we continue to have such a system, I think it's in everybodies interest that the children the system is failing get some support. If the system is dismantled, we must start by removing the ruling class from the teat and see how that translates down income.
