The Daily Quote with Jon Stewart

I got the gadget, so I'll do this every day. All ya'll gotta do is read it, and make comments if you wish.

For our non-US Dwellars, the date at the bottom is month/day/year.

[begin]

Quote:

John Kerry and George W. Bush are working to put America's bank robbers back to work.
09/04/2004

Drax 12-14-2007 03:15 AM

Quote:

Saddam Hussein is the best thing to happen to this economy since the tech bubble.
10/07/2002

Ibby 12-14-2007 03:51 AM

Uh...
Why?

Drax 12-14-2007 09:59 PM

Why not?

ZenGum 12-15-2007 07:03 AM

Any chance of telling us who said these quotes - it puts it in context. I mean, they can't all be Bushisms.
Thanks for the chuckles though.

Clodfobble 12-15-2007 09:57 AM

Psst, Zen... it's in the thread title.

Jon Stewart is a satirical news commentator who anchors a program called The Daily Show.

ZenGum 12-15-2007 10:07 AM

Oh, right, thanks.
I thought he was just collecting the quotes and presenting them, not actually producing them all. Is that what you're telling me?

Clodfobble 12-15-2007 10:15 AM

I don't know who "he" is supposed to be... These are things that Jon Stewart has said on the show, and Drax has apparently decided that we need to read one quote a day, so he is copying them here from whatever Google Gadget he has that delivers them to him.

Personally, so far I find them to be pretty meaningless without the context of the news story from the time.

classicman 12-16-2007 01:29 AM

And after all that we didn't get one yesterday. Consistently inconsistent - just like Jon.

But you like my Funny Kitty Pix and Things To Ponder threads in which my pix also come from a Google Gadget? What's the logical differenc?

I guess you can thank Ibram for that.

Ibby, my sincerest and most heartfelt appreciation to you. Simply put, thanks dude.

OK, Drax, lets try this - cuz I still think this thread has potential, spinoff possibilities and we may get two things accomplished at once. Go ahead and pick your quote by Jon Stewart, post it, and then give us a lil dissertation on why you whose it and/or what the significance of it was.

That'll get the conversation started.

The cat pictures are each funny on their own. The Jon Stewart quotes are part of longer speeches--and while there are plenty of one-liners on the show that can stand on their own, so far the two quotes provided didn't fall into that category IMHO. Like this one:

Quote:

John Kerry and George W. Bush are working to put America's bank robbers back to work.
What is this in reference to? Looks like it was said about 2 months before the 2004 election, but that doesn't really explain anything. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the Daily Show, I'm just saying I think the Gadget could choose better quotes.

If "the gadget" rocks so much, why not ask UT to addit as a feature of the cellar? Or just post it in the links thread so people can use it if they are interested.
