So let's talk about stuff.

Just up the road from us there's a borough called New Morgan. The owner of most of the land there has been trying for quite a while to develop the area, planned community style, from 35 people, to several thousand people. The lots are already divided for housing, the parking lots are all in place in the commercial areas, etc etc...
What's the hold up? The bog turtle. It's endangered.

At a certain angle that looks like an image of Willie Nelson on the turtles neck. I love Whiskey River.

How many bog turtles are there jinx? Can they be relocated or perhaps have a park/nature reserve built around their habitat? Often that's what happens with creatures like this over here. The developer offers to 'donate' a certain amount of land to the environment which keeps everyone and everything fairly happy...in most cases.

I imagine a preserve is what will happen Ali. I think they're still figuring out how many turtles are in the area - but a neighboring township has a least 2 preserves in proximity to development, one of which received a pretty big grant a few years back.

It's just very odd to drive past the parking lots in the middle of nowhere. "They pave paradise..."

Personally, I'm torn between disgust for urban sprawl - and the hope of selling my house for a shit ton more than I paid for it. And the turtles are just plain cute...

yeah...i imagine that's exactly what it's like. I love that song...all the different versions of it. Actually, I've been known to sing it at karaoke even. ;)

LJ 12-08-2007 08:42 PM

I've always wanted to sing karaoke. The only time i actually got jinx drunk enough to let me, though.....they stopped for the night right before we got to the bar. ( we were on foot)
