Well, if you compare the number of men who buy sex toys/dolls for themselves with the number of women who buy sex toys for themselves, you can get an idea of who would be the more logical market.

Heck, if you could program the robots to cuddle, we'd be obsolete in 5 years.:D

Make that a cuddling robot with a substantial income.

Harsh, harsh!
I'm in need of the old $ as much as anyone, but if I'd rather have cuddles from a starving poet (even unpublished) than a millionaire I didn't fancy.

I think you'll find the stereotypes cancel eachother out. A starving poet might love me for my wit and cuddles, but a millionaire would never consider my rolls of fat as being worthy of his achievements.

Damm, I thought this was a thread about swingers lifestyle.

that would be some interesting reading. If I read Dutch.

You could program your own spouse. Does have a certain appeal to it, doesn't it?

Dozens Of Sex Dolls for Lonely Japanese Man

Having lost the hope to find real love a 45-year-old Japanese man bought dozens of sex dolls that now serve as wives for him.

When he comes home from work no wife or girlfriend who await him. Instead he meets dozens of sex dolls that are sitting on the sofa waiting for their husband.

Each of the sex dolls has her name. The man spends time with the dolls like they would be real women: wives or girlfriends. He watches TV with them, takes baths and, of course, makes love to them. To make their skin look and feel life-like he powders their faces. The man puts on the dolls sexy lingerie and goes to bed with them.

The man says he has chosen sex dolls instead of real women, as these never betray and belong completely to their lover. One more reason for choosing sex dolls is that these are always ready to have sex, they never deny the lover.

The man says that in fact he likes sex with women more than with sex dolls, but he hates the process of dating. The man has already spent more than 2 million yen ($16,000) over the past decade on the dolls.

In fact, the Japanese man is a typical sex doll buyer. According to some studies nearly all people who purchase sex dolls are single men. Circa 60 percent of them are older than 40.

Actually there is a certain tendency. More and more men prefer sex dolls rather than women, since modern women tend to be more dominant than men and they do not pay attention to men, according to Hideo Tsuchiya, the president of a sex doll manufacturer.

Meanwhile, Reuters ( http://www.reuters.com/article/newsO...070718?sp=true ) adds:

Orient Industry Co. now makes 80 dolls a month in an eastern Tokyo factory to nine designs that sell for between $850 and $5,500 each. The more expensive models are made of silicon and have 35 movable joints.

Many have parted lips, prominent breasts and are shown splayed across beds or chairs in poses similar to those adopted by prostitutes in sex shops.

Well they never nag, never get jealous of each other, and I've head the new models even have internal heating systems.

But seriously, to have this as an "emotional outlet" seems to me to indicate a stunted, warped and pathological emotional status. He's not hurting anyone but himself, so I wouldn't oppose it, but I don't think it's healthy.

Now for something really icky. I've heard, but cannot confirm, that there are robo-bothels where you can hire these things by the hour. Eiiiuuwww. Raises all sorts of issues of hygiene and maintenance. Eiiiuuwww.

There's a reason I'm just now getting married for the first time at age 32...I'm a picky son of a bitch, and I only want to do it once. And that woman really has to be able to put up with me. I think I found the right one finally. ;)

So did you get the $850 model or the $5,500 one?

elSicomoro 10-16-2007 05:53 PM

I saved...spent the big bucks.
