X-Seed, New World's tallest building (city?)

I thought this was a joke the first time I read this but apparently it is real.

Quote:

X-Seed 4000 is a proposed skyscraper that looks oddly like Mt. Fuji. Perhaps it’s unsurprising that it could be eventually built in Tokyo, Japan. The tallest building ever fully designed, the X-Seed 4000 would house between 500,000 and 1,000,000 people. A tiny quantity of individuals, if you take into account that the technology to “fabricate” mature adult individuals from raw materials is probably only a few decades away. (A topic that probably deserves a post all its own.)

The X-Seed 4000, which would be 4,000 meters high (13,123.2 feet), would in fact be taller than Mt. Fuji, which is merely 3776 meters high (12,388 ft).

Tall buildings rock and all, but is this shit really necessary? Of course, space is limited in places like Hong Kong and Japan, but still.

i think it would create too much drag, and make the earth wobble......we'll all fall into the sun in a minute.

And does that building have any defenses against Godzilla? Otherwise, it's totally no good.

in 2035 smog will be purple in Japan.

Just out of curiosity (i didn't read the actual article), but if the people in construction working on this - would they still be alive after the actual completion of project?

Well, if a pharaoh can get a pyramid up during his reign, we should be able to put up an arcology within a lifetime.

I know, it just seems ridiculous. Rather an oddity. The time frame really will take years - it would seem they'd need something sooner.

The actual planning itself will take forever. You have to make sure every little detail is perfect or a possibility of a half million to a million people will die if it collapses or something.

I mean, its over 2 miles high.

Happy Monkey 08-22-2007 05:36 PM

They say it's "fully designed", whatever that means.

TheMercenary 08-22-2007 07:31 PM

In Japan they have run out of room. The must grow up into the sky to make room. And on top of that short people feel a need to occupy big things. :D
