"The best laid plans o' Mice and Men . . .

. . . gang aft agley. "

Where's that from? Robert Burns, of course, but I had never read the whole thing before today. It's really good! Good explanation of the dialect, too:

To a Mouse

I love the Scottish dialect, even if it's a bit difficult to understand sometimes.

Oh Shawnee...you'd like my friend Shaggy. He's an Aberdeenshire lad, who made it in a small way as an artist and a couple of other things and now lives on his own croft. Very charismatic, rides a Harley, and speaks partly in the Doric dialect (a la Burns). Refers to his girlfriend as his Quine.

You had me until the word "girlfriend." ;) eh, story of me life, lassie.

Yeah....shame about the girlfriend thing.
