East Timor will officially become independent at 11am EDT Sunday morning, after almost 3 years under the UN's watch. The events will be broadcast live by the United Nations Foundation. President Clinton will be in attendance as well as UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Upon becoming a country, it will be Asia's poorest.
