What SHOULD you know

They're are certain things I think every adult should know but don't. For starters CPR, what do you think every person, man or woman should know?

bluecuracao 07-05-2007 12:02 AM

Ugh, that reminds me...the other night, I dreamed that I had to give CPR to a baby, who had drowned in a bathtub.

Rexmons 07-05-2007 01:07 AM

i had to take first aid in highschool and i thought i had a general understanding of it, but the other day i was working in a conference room where a medic was instructing a bunch of people on how to properly give cpr, i was waaaay the fuck off. and another thing to add to the list:

being able to change a tire, you would be suprised.

All must google.

What people should need to know coming outta the womb:

How to type on a standard keyboard.
How to pull over for sirening vehicles and not be a dick.
How to say "thank you" to customer service people.
How to tie a tie (men {opinion}).
How to communicate bluntly AND mean it (women {opinion}).

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.”

Robert Heinlein (or Lazarus Long, if you prefer)

I'll second personal finances. It utterly blows my mind how retarded people can be when it comes to how to handle money. In my house growing up, the "money talk" was a bigger deal than the "sex talk."

elSicomoro 07-05-2007 02:06 PM

How to be kind, yet not be gullible.

rkzenrage 07-05-2007 02:13 PM

How to sew
How to survive overnight in the wilderness (build a fire, make shelter, etc)
How to take care of an infant/toddler (all of it)
Basic auto maintenance
How to run/maintain diagnostics for PCs (real computers) and how to track files
Cook (agree)
How to let go of stuff
Basic first aid

Undertoad 07-05-2007 02:35 PM

That "being famous" should not be a goal.

rkzenrage 07-05-2007 02:47 PM

Nor is it a career.

DanaC 07-05-2007 05:08 PM

When to fight and when to compromise.
