A short critique.........
In general, and obviously for what it's worth, I've found the Cellar experience to be a positive one. As I told UnderToad in an e-mail, it has what might be loosely described as critical mass, i.e., sufficient numbers of varying opinions.
One improvement, however, might be to reduce the number of categories, possibly eliminate the categories completely. I've found that the boards that don't attempt to "library" posts invite more crosstalk. Those that would normally avoid a category simply as a result of its description have exposure and often find they've an opinion on topics once deemed boring or over their heads. My dime, folks. Interesting idea, but I think the categories encourage people to write about different topics and helps folks find there way around when things get cluttered. IMHO

One problem with the categories is deciding where to put things sometimes. (For example, the Grifftopia bird pictures thread could be in the Quality Images category. Now I've just looked for that thread and can't find it.)
But I do use the categories; there are about 9 forums that I have never entered and three or four that I look in regularly. So having the forum categories does reduce the amount of time that I spend in the Cellar to about 20 hours per day. |

I'm a doctor Jim, not a librarian!
My ideas for Cellar improvement are: Concierge Health Club Pool Gift Shop - (ok, we technically have on on Zazzle) |
Don't forget massages (with or w/o happy endings)
Manicures/Pedicures Feet de-stinking Firing range and I am sure I am missing much much more... |
