Pentagon Limits Troops' Web Access
Ok. Here's the link.
Next rule. Do I have any thoughts on this. Yes I do. I understand time changes. While in army in Germany, if you had a burning desire to call home, you went to the Bunduspost sp?? And paid for the call. When I first went offshore to call home you used the marine operator, ship to shore radio and call was billed to the number. Then came microwave for company use only. Well if you knew the codes, do it. Now people quit jobs over the damn phone. What no phone! BY. Guess what I'm saying is the more you give the more some want. |
too true.
so, next time, maybe make the link more descriptive, mmmkay? |
A couple years ago I got involved with buying and setting up a satellite link for a Marine Medical Group in Afghanistan. They were not allowed to used the US governments links for email or web contact.
They marines objected, saying the web site they set up for family and friends to check out, could be mistaken as an official Marine website. A compromise was reached by making it a password protected site. Of course they didn't have the option of just going home, like a private employee. |
