The Mainichi Daily News has this gallery of a hilarious crying baby contest held in Tokyo. They had 84 babies there, all born in 2006, and the winner would the one who cried the loudest. And what did they call it?

Naki Sumo, or, "Crying Sumo".

Doesn't make sense since the Sumo guys aren't crying. It makes as much sense as the rest of it.

The event is supposed to be a sort of prayer for the baby's health and growth, and I suppose you want to get the biggest guys out there to really show them their ideal, get the whole growth thing started.

Don't need no stinkin' Sumos. Just plunk 'em on the ground and squirt 'em with a fire hose.

Looks like the rikishi in the first photo is just on the verge of breaking out in tears.

That guy on the top has a HUGE head it is as big as the baby's body.

The sumo wrestlers aren't crying, but they're dressed like babies.

Is that one baby sitting on the sumo guy's belly fat?

Yep, he's got a lower balcony you could set a baby on!

being a Sumo wrestler is my dream job. If I got to make babies cry as well...that's just frosting on the gigantic cake of life.

I'd like to apologize to the families of the children I made cry in the contest...I got a lot of money to do it.
