Prince Harry in Iraq

I'm sure you've all heard about this by now. I think it's a good thing. He should go, and the fact that he states he wants to go is good also. I hope as I do for all armed service men and women that his time is safe, but if his reg is going then that's just the way it is.

Good on him for doing his duty, however misguided I may personally believe this war to be.

It's unfortunate, however, he'll be putting his fellow soldiers in harms way. I'm sure the "bad guys" (other guys if you prefer) will make an all out effort to find and kill the prince. Anyone near him will be in grave danger.

Aliantha 05-02-2007 05:20 AM

Of course they will, maybe even moreso than other officers that're targeted. He still has chosen a military career, as have his soldiers. I'm sure they're all very proud to be serving their country and their Queen.

xoxoxoBruce 05-02-2007 05:28 AM

You mean the Queen is as crazy as Bush?

Aliantha 05-02-2007 05:29 AM

No, I mean when a British soldier goes to war he's serving Queen and country. The same as Aussie soldiers.

Is he the one who just broke up with his long-time girlfriend? Or is that the other one?

I don't see how the insurgents will be able to pick him out. He will be in uniform with a helmet on and I believe he is in a tank unit.

They'll find where he's assigned and concentrate on it. Find out what tank he's in and try to take it out. Spies are everywhere in this kind of war.

Hmmm....good point.

It will still be pretty hard for them to find his group but if I was in the same tank as him, I would be pretty pissed.

Perhaps the Commanding Officers will employ as much disinformation as possible - it could even be a means to flush out insurgent activity with minimal risk to British troops. If they can hide Osama, then I would have thought that we ought to be able to conceal Harry's true whereabouts just as effectively.

xoxoxoBruce 05-02-2007 06:42 PM

Osama isn't surrounded by spies.
But they might be able to hide him, away from his mates. I'd bet money there are people in Iraq that already know all the numbers of his outfit and who his friends and crew are.

He's just too big a target not to work on it, at least.

No, that was William. Second in line to the throne.

Harry is the one who does drugs and wears swastikas to bars.

This isn't the first war that a member of the british royal family has served in. There is in fact a long tradition of leading by example in the house of Windsor.

But then you will be putting other troops in the areas where "Harry is" in more danger. Their lives are just as important as Harry's is.

It is good that he will be going... If you want that title and uniform, you have to do the work associated with the title and uniform. Simple as that.
