I heard about this. For the love of...God, I guess. Next thing you know he'll take away purgatory, the only chance I have to not rot forever in hell. ;)

You may scoff, but a good friend of mine has always claimed that this is why Catholicism will survive long after Protestantism has splintered itself out of existence: they are willing to change with the times, and have the hierarchy to enforce it.

Natural selection as applied to religion has always fascinated me.

There's where I really split from Catholicism. Though changing to keep up with times is wonderful, how can you just one day decide that a very important tenet is just no longer true. Poof! My mother remarked over the weekend that I guess that means that child she had who was stillborn can now finally ascend into heaven (yes, a priest told her that child still had original sin and would forever remain in limbo...how cruel is that?) It's one thing to decide we girls didn't have to wear those stupid hat doilies to church, or to decide that kneeling too long was unnecessary...but deciding "limbo" is no longer in fashion? I call papal bullshit. Hell, I call the whole religion bullshit. :headshake

It will shock you. I bought it. A must see for any current or former catholic. I bought the DVD and the trailers with the interviews of the actual women that were played in the movie was powerful.

And people think the Muslims are screwed up....

I agree, Merc. I work with so many devout Catholics (here in what we call the Great White North in this part of Ohio) and I wonder how they can't see the hypocrisy and cruelty.

I'm glad that catholicism is based on guilt AND alcohol, because I need the booze to cover up years of guilt! And I'm on way for some lapsed catholic medicine right now! :)
