I'm sick
I can't stop buying books--it's a sickness! and my living room is littered with piles of books I'm attempting to get rid of.
(links are to Amazon) I bought Jim Butcher's "White Knight" -- the latest in The Dresden Files. I realized this morning this latest book came out this week, and I had to run down to B&N immediately! (Does happy dance). That's what I'll be doing this weekend. And my taxes. :( Anyway, I also bought: Oh Yuck! The Encyclopedia of Everything Nasty for my grandson. Supposed to be a big hit, especially with boys. And, A Child's Introduction to Poetry because I saw it in a display and I couldn't resist. Fun drawings, great selection of different types of poetry, from ballads to limericks, and a CD to listen to them aloud. |
I buy a lot of books too. Most I keep but some I trade at the used bookstore. I watched Master and Commander today and now I want to buy the series of books it is based on. :)

My daughter (9yo) chose this when we recently bought the sprogs books as rewards for good Science Fair projects. She loves it, and has been reading it for ages, so it must be good as she normally speed-reads everything and doesn't always stop to take it in properly. It has bookworm approval  |
I can usually save money on books because I work near a very good library that gives me home borrowing privileges since I work in the county (I live in a different county). This works very well unless they have an incomplete series. In this case they had "A Walk on the Nightside" by Simon R. Green. This contained the first 3 books of the series. Unfortunately, they didn't have any of the others, so now I've bought 4 though 7.
Oh, and while fact checking this post I find that the Hawk and Fisher series, which I though stopped at book 2, actually went on to book 6. Well, at least I know what I will be taking to Las Vegas with me. |
Ooh, I've read some of the Simon Green series, too--very good. It's important to read those ones in order, too.

I really enjoyed that movie. I think it was based on the fifth book in the series and wanted to read it before I saw the film. I am just starting the second and realized I be dead before I finished number five so went ahead and saw it. There was a lot from the first book in the movie so it wasn't a bad decision.

Well, I messed that up. Perhaps someone could help me with what I wanted to do. If they know what I wanted to do.

if you screw up a post...and hit post too soon...you can edit it....there's a button in the bottom right corner of your posts...for a day or so after you post it.

i also suffered from the same sickness, as did my kids. That is until i moved to a smaller house, and after bringing in our books i realised there was no room for furniture. So i had to get rid of most of them :( We just borrow from the library now, we have more space, and even better more money :)

If you are merely sick, then I am in need of emergency hospitalization.
I have books and not linens in my (very large) linen closet. My bookpile could kill someone. |
