Which flame warrior are you?
Which flame warrior are you?
http://www.winternet.com/~mikelr/flame1.html I have designs that I'm the Philosopher, but I'm really the universally-loathed Tireless Rebutter. |

Lamer

Eagle Scouts, like Peacemakers, are mythical. (IMO a Peacemaker is merely a Diplomat who hasn't gotten his just desserts yet.) I believe Kung-Fu masters are also mythical; if they existed, they'd have taken over.
I find bits of myself in many of these descriptions. Tempermentally I think I'm Rebel Leader, taking additional tactics from the Jerk. Using Jerk tactics allows shameless assaults against Innocence Abused, Toxic Granny, and Crybaby. |
Toxic-Bliss-Granny-Clown with a doubleshot of Lamer-Weenie. Degree of difficulty, 6.9.

I'm probably closest to the Lurker, because I don't have much stomach for endless debate. When I feel the urge to weigh into an argument, I usually speak my piece and then shut up after a rebuttal or two. Of course some would say this is more representative of Profundus Maximus. I suspect I also have elements of the Eagle Scout and definitely the Grammarian. Oh and I have some Lonely Guy going too, though I've never felt the urge to flame just for the sake of human contact.
I suspect my daughter is a burgeoning Net Rat. At age 6 she is just as at home (maybe more) talking with teachers as with the other kids, and knows all the first and second grade teachers from talking with them at recess. When she reaches a certain level of spelling & typing competence, I imagine the prospect of being able to join a discussion with grownups who will not know she's "just a kid" will prove irresistable. |
Probably Big Dog.

Eh, hardly. Those don't really fit at all. I'm sure those who generally disagree with my views would like to believe that I fall into those categories simply because they feel it gives them ammunition with which to discredit my arguments. That's fine, but it's also false. Those here who have read through all of the flame warrior descriptions and who can sit back and take an objective look at my past arguments would probably agree that "Big Dog" is the most fitting. Not to say that I'm proud of that classification, but it is the most honest and fitting. Unlike others that have posted to this thread, I don't fancy myself something that I'm not.

Sure they fit.

Jekyll and Hyde fits because normally you're pretty nice, but when you get all riled up you get extremely emotional.
ALLCAPS fits because when you get all riled up, you employ excessive use of ALL CAPTIAL LETTERS in order to make an emotional point. :] Compost really fits least of all.. but I threw it in there because you often do include profanity solely for shock value.. I guess to throw people off. |
I have been known to capitalize from time to time, but it's hardly a frequent occurence. It generally happens when I am, in real life, sitting at my computer, frustrated with the other person. Since this hardly ever happens anymore, my capitalization has also gone the way of the buffalo.
If one of them were to fit, it would be Jekyl & Hyde, but I disagree with the following part of the characterization: "until one day he comes completely uncorked and lashes out without warning. His unanticipated thunderbolts can temporarily rout even the sturdiest Warriors". I don't believe I lash out without warning; rather, I have been known to respond emotionally to people who I feel are very far off base. I also don't believe that it routs, temporarily or otherwise, the "sturdiest Warriors". I don't find myself to be that exceptional. I have occasionally included profanity for shock value, but not in the manner which you believe. When I say "fuck", I say it because I use the word liberally. I use it to help illustrate a point or emotion, or because I am used to using it and its inclusion is habit, but never to shock, offend or throw someone off. It is simply a part of the way I speak. |
