I have a few towns that I consider hometowns:
Liberty, Missouri
Lee's Summit, Missouri
Clifton Park, New York

In conversation with non-Missourians the two Missouri towns become Kansas City. While to non-Albanyites Clifton Park becomes Upstate, New York.

I grew up in Central Pennsylvania

York, PA
Dover, PA
Mechanicsburg, PA

I now live in Raleigh, NC

If you had the good fortune to be driving through Elverson on September
20th, you might have witnessed a very unusual site at G & G
Automotive. For most of the day many people were “hanging out” at
the gas station, or so it seemed. As the day wore on, it became obvious
that something exciting was happening. People were being positioned
around and near the gas pumps with much “blood” being strewn
around them. People across the street were poised with their cameras.
Traffic was slowing as onlookers tried to glimpse at the surreal scene,
while trying to decide if what they thought they were seeing was actually
happening, especially here in Elverson! As I happen to work across
the street from the gas station, I had a front row seat to the commotion.
One of my coworkers was brave enough to go and take pictures,
but more importantly, she asked questions! And this is some of what
she found out.
There is a new television show on CBS this fall called “Jericho”. It’s
about a town in Kansas affected by a nuclear bomb in Denver, actually
several bombs strategically across the nation. As a result, there is no
electricity, no communication lines, except for walkie-talkies used by
the police, and eventually a gas shortage. Consequently desperate
people are doing desperate things to obtain this precious commodity.
The filming of this was so real that a nurse driving by actually stopped,
got out of her car, identified herself and offered to help in any way that
she could. A member of the Fire Company stopped to investigate, because
they hadn’t informed the Fireboard (911), and they were receiving
all kinds of calls.
Garey Wade, owner of G & G, said a man stopped by the day before, identified himself as Damien Sinclair and
handed him his business card which stated he was a producer from West Chester. He thought this would be a good
spot to shoot film for advertising for their website. Garey thought someone was going way out of their way to play
a practical joke on him. He still thought it was a joke after his wife told him that this same man had called later in
the day to say they would be there tomorrow. But, lo and behold, they did show up and the rest is history—unusual
history for little ole’ Elverson.
this is across the street from my house. i literally could hit it with a rock from my front door.

Too weird LJ- one of the companies mentioned in your link is a client of mine - Oh my, its a frighteningly small world.
Love the natural stone house!!

Obviously I've given my home city its own thread, but here's the official take on Leicester and specifically my street.

We're trying to win the title of Curry Capital of the UK this year - apparently we keep losing out because not enough people here bid - we take our fantastic curry houses for granted. Keep watching for further exciting updates.
