Midwest Storm
I saw the news this morning and thought about Elspode. I hope the family is keeping warm. I tried to look up specific citys but didn't find much info. I know power is out

oh good- ee:D

We got a real good day of melt yesterday, but it was back to colder today. It is now 13 degrees, and everything is frozen solid. Lots of patches of glare ice from the refrozen meltwater.
I'm still trying to buy a load of wood. I have a feeling it is going to be a lot more expensive than it was at this time last week. Sigh. |
And people keep saying Ohio is in the midwest.. I haven't seen a darn flake of snow yet.
Skiing at Boston Mills/Brandywine is going to suck this year |
Dusting of powder in NEPA last night, its just a matter of time.
|
We saw the storms on the telly here.
They never cease to amaze me. A big part of that is probably because I've never actually seen snow. Maybe I'd best do that some time. ;) Glad all the cellar dwellars are doing ok. Hope it continues to be so. |
I've never actually seen snow
You are about the third preson I have EVER heard say that !!! I am from the south , where a dusting sends EVERY body into a Frenzy of rushing to the store to buy milk ,eggs ,and bread !! I have NEVER understood this , french toast isn't THAT popular !!!!! |
Don't you all keep UHT milk in the cupboard for this very reason?
I know I do! ;) |
......what in case of snow? :P
|
Yep! ;)
You just never know when it might snow!!! (reference to gun dispute for those of you who are uninformed...hehehe) |
UHT milk
Is that that milk stuff so full of presertives that it CAN'T go bad ??? When I was over that way in the mid 80's , they got some for the ship , I got a carton and stuck it in a small broom closet with a leaking steam pipe for a month , we chilled it and it tasted FINE ( well as fine as that stuff can taste ) |
Yeah around here we put non-fat dry milk on the shelf for those emergencies.right behind the bullets;)
|
UHT is Ultra Heated (don't know what the T stands for and can't be bothered looking it up) Anyway, they heat it up and then seal it in airtight Tetra packs (maybe that's what the T stands for). It keeps for about 2 yrs or so.
We usually do have a couple of litres in the cupboard for emergencies - usually associated with late night milk deprivation, not snow. |
