Left over files
1 Attachment(s)
Any way to tell if these are left over HP junk, other that naming them old one at time? They're in the system 32 folder. I just returned a scanner because when you clicked scan it tried to find files that were maybe on some CD. At this point I have nothing by HP on my computer and want all the junk out before installing an other HPscanjet 4370. Thanks bb

Nothing like stupidly arcane and Byzantine 8 letter filenames in the year 2006 is there? Thank you DOS compatibility.
You might be able to glean a little more info if you right click on them and goto properties and look for the version info / string. Additionally you could go into a dos prompt (Command prompt?) and run strings hpzlnt07 and see if anything interesting comes about. Sorry if this is imprecise - I haven't used Windows regulary for years. |
When scanner is removed (in Control Panel, click on Add/Remove Hardware; or if using XP version, "Printers and Other Hardware", then select "Scanner and Camera", 'right click mouse' on scanner, and select delete)), all scanner files would be removed.

When I made the above, nothing by HP was "supposed" to be on my computer.

Buster, try searching for the .dll files in this site. I tested the first few in your list, and some are confirmed as HP files but some are not in the database. But I'm not sure that deleting .dll files by hand is a good idea though...

Make a temp folder somewhere and move them to there. If everything still works then you don't need them.
I keep seeing the title of this thread as Leftover Flies. |

Someone from HP also told me to run windows installer clean up? Didn't try that as had fixed before I got e-mail, but might be an idea to keep in mind. bb
