Food Jag
I get on food jags...I know, it's just another symptom of my many, MANY faults. I was wondering if anyone else has them? Fer instance: I was on a taco jag from May to August--I HAD to have taco's, even from Taco Bell, a place I'd never paid any attention to--I think it was triggered by my Mom having taco's for the Memorial Day picnic. Then I (shamefully) went on to apple dumplings--who craves apple dumplings? NO ONE! Why should I? I've also had an unnatural thing for chocolate covered cherries, mashed potates and pasta salad. Are you a freak too? Or, am I, sadly, alone?
*so hoping I'm not alone!* |
Not at all. Our household is currently on an ice cream sandwich jag, which started back in August...so they are now a staple item kept in supply. I suspect we'll be over it around December or so...

Oh noooooooooooooo. You are not alone!
For a while, I couldn't live without those Mike-sell's Cheese Doodles. It's just some puffy chemical infused substance fried and covered in a cheese-like powder. They gum up in your teeth and you spend an hour making "false teeth" noises trying to clear them out. Then you put on about 5 lbs per bag. But could I stop? No! Could I eat a thousand rice cakes instead? No! This is why I ride out my "I don't want to eat a thing" binges. Not healthy in the slightest, either way...but you gotta do what you gotta do. |
mmm...ice cream sandwiches...I had an ice cream sandwich EVERY day for luch during my 8th grade year--an ice cream sandwich and NOTHING else. I weighed 100 at 5'6". All hail the ice cream sandwich!
During High School I routinely ate two pretzel rods and a milk. I weighed 118. I was 5' 7" |

I do lunch food-jags for weeks to months on end. Until I get tired of it and switch to something else...
Baloney (beef) sandwiches. Baked potato w/ sour cream. PB&Js. Tunafish w/ sweet pickles. Subway sandwiches' Chicken Terriyaki w/ sweet onion sauce. (this jag was spendy!) Fish sticks. Grilled cheese w/ tomato soup. Currently, the jag is mini ravioli's. This one has lasted about 5 weeks, so far...I just bought another 6 cans tonight. |
A couple of years ago, I was hooked on tomato and cheddar cheese sandwiches. I ate one for dinner every single night for over a month. Then, poof, I was done, and I haven't had one since then.

Any suspicion that these are caused by some nutritional lack, best covered by really eating a variety of salads and vegetables?

jinx is like that, b.

I can jag with the best of them I assure you.
My current craving is unusually healthy - Extra Light Philedelphia on Multi Grain Ryvitas (rye based crackers). I've eaten them every day for the last two weeks, although sadly they are an addition to my diet, not a substitution for anything else. I ate chicken chilli for dinner for about 8 months once. With two slices of toast. I just never saw the reason to have anything else. I also have cereal jags, although these move more slowly. At the moment I have Kelloggs Cornflakes and nothing else. I've thrown away my Special K and Sugar Puffs - I probably won't be back on those for another 10 months. |
I am the anti-jag queen then. I can't eat something more than 3 times in a row. Leftover dinner is had for lunch the next day and then anything left is thrown out. Unless it's candy. I guess that's where I 'jag'. Currently it's Kit Kats. That's the only sweet thing I crave right now. In fact, last night after my run, I had 4 snack size Kit Kat bars and a huge bottle of water for dinner. :yum:
Before that it was What-cha-ma-callits. Crunchy caramel-ly goodness. Had one every day. |

I have a good breakfast, take vitamins and eat a healthy, well-rounded dinner. I think I can jag at lunch and not hurt myself. |
