Are conversations about relationships held hostage by political correctness?

What’s the sense of dialogue when it becomes a lousy tit-4-tat of insults and accusations?

Why isn't it about ideas and issues?

I lot heat but no light.

Is this how students are taught argumentation in school?

Have schools be come self-censored because of the PC police?

It depends. Is hypocrisy an "issue" to you?

You repeatedly ignored my question as to whether you were a virgin. You finally insinuated in another thread that you were once married, so I will assume the answer is no. I would like to rephrase:

On the day you were married, were you a virgin?

This may not seem like an "idea" or an "issue" to you, but I assure you it is leading up to one. If you are not held hostage by political correctness, you should be able to discuss such a thing frankly and honestly, no?

I only do that with you because you're an asshole. See? No PC there!

BM (hint hint) You said/typed "I lot heat but no light." What the hell does that mean?? That you like a lot of heat but shed no light on a subject??

Oh and I agree with Bri - YOU"RE an asshole and you act like a know it all. Me, I'm just a poor schmuck trying to do the best I can without TELLING other people how to live THEIR lives.:borg:

Yeah, he doesn't strike me as being a tough old broad with strong mule tendencies. Think he'll post an insult to UT in big red caps? Then we could really have some fun! ;)

There's no point in trading insults. People become frustrated when a person with opposing views doesn't seem to be able to explain the context of their argument very well. I would suggest that this would mean the person hasn't learned very much about debating or in your words, argumentation.

If you want to learn about ideas and issues, you trade ideas and issues. It is highly inflamitory to suggest that people have lower moral standards simply because they have a different world view.

Perhaps if you address these 'issues and ideas' you may have more success with the people here.

Debating? You mean it's not debasing? Oh crap...:smack:

From observation;

I understand where you're coming from but don't agree (with or without reasons).....will fly.

You don't agree with me so you're an asshole and your mother wears combat boots.....will not fly

Just trying to help, ya know.

Aliantha 10-09-2006 10:52 PM

I dunno. That's UG's fav tactic, and people (self included) still can't resist engaging with him. Why do any of us bother? :smack:
