US to get its very own fenced border!
The U.S. Senate gave final approval Friday night to legislation authorizing the construction of 700 miles of double-layered fencing on the U.S.-Mexico border, shelving President Bush's vision of a comprehensive overhaul of U.S. immigration laws in favor of a vast barrier.
The measure was pushed hard by House Republican leaders, who badly wanted to pass a piece of legislation that would make good on their promises to get tough on illegal immigrants, despite warnings from critics that a multibillion-dollar fence would do little to address the underlying economic, social and law enforcement problems, or to prevent others from slipping across the border. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., surprised many advocates of a more comprehensive approach to immigration problems when he took up the House bill last week. More:http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercu...d/15647110.htm I feel SO releived! No more nasty illegal immigrants. I wonder if its going to be patroled and electrified, also. I also wonder if its to keep them out or us in? |
The plans to instigate minefields 12 miles off both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts were also approved.......

I talked with a Hispanic American I know whose family has been here since the days when his hometown in New Mexico was still part of Mexico. He's bilingual and has acquaintances among the illegal migrant community. According to him, the illegals have already built several tunnels under the border. I don't know if this is true or not, but I bet it WILL be true soon, if its not true now. Spelunking, anybody?
