USB warning

I just installed a HP-C3100 all-in-one. When I picked it up at big box I didn't notice that it has a card reader. So every time I turn it off I get the pop-up, Don't do that!
Nothing on task bar or in the unplug hardware section. I inserted a card in reader and still nothing shows up? Any ideas? :tnx bb

Busterb,

What makes you want to turn it off? It's USB 2.0 and actually very valuable. You can use it to print without turning on your PC.

However, if you really want to turn it off, go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager and disable it there. Look for a HP USB root hub under Universal Serial Bus controllers :). You can right-click on it, select Properties, and disable it there.

By task bar, I assume you are referring to right side bottom icons. Did you enlongate that bar to see those other icons?

What is the unplug hardware section?

But it is not what I have seen provided by so many manufacturers for purging caches before disconnection a USB device (only for a device that requires such purging). Normally, the 'purging' icon is in the taskbar adjacent to the clock. Again, did you review every icon in that part of the toolbar? That is where the 'I am about to disconnect' icon is often located.

TW. Thanks. I'm using 2k-pro and see the icon when I use my Sandisk reader, but not the built-in on printer. The photo above is found at control panel, add or remove hardware.

Did you connect the printer to the computer before installing the driver software?

busterb 08-10-2006 07:59 PM

Nope! In fact I had to reinstall because I refused to let it put a bunch of junk in start up. Till I found the correct .exe file to link to, Then ran misconfig, which everyone knows isn't in 2-k. To stop the start up crap.
