It's a heist! No it isn't. This is the display case of the 11 Millennium diamonds, at London's Millennium Dome, after being hit by a nail gun. As you can see, the case held. The value of the diamonds: $290 million.

Any more info on this? Was it actually a robbery attempt or was it a demonstration of the glass they're using?

If an attempt at a heist... hehe :) Gee, one could use a gun, which would almost surely work... or a nail gun. Yeah, let's go with nails.

Still though... $290 million could make you do funny things... :)

It was a real attempt...

from memory:

The stole a JCB and drove it through the wall of the Millenium dome, and then through the wall to where the diamonds were kept. The plan was to nail gun the shite out ot the glass (which actually gave way) and then get on a boat and make a get awayalong the thames to a waiting van.

The police however got wind of it and 30 - 40 SWAT teams arrested all of the gang members (including the one in the van and the speed boat)

They all got around about 15 years a peice....
