Buying cds/ smirch engines
I want to buy a copy of Richard and Linda Thompson's Disc "Across a Crowded Room" I googled the title and, quite mysteriously, I noted that the only vendor for this disc was Amazon.com.
Keeping my paranoid fantasies in check for a wee bit I still wonder if google and amazon are in bed together, i.e. google is supressing competitors of Amazon. If so, then are there search engines that don't suck as much. I remember altavista from a a hundred years ago. Anyway, who gives ashit? I really just want to get a copy of the disc, and I am actually willing to pay for it, for a change. blah blah blah |
Don't forget to pick up a copy of "Shoot Out the Lights" while you're at it.

Yes, yes...shoot out the lights. Best of the dozen discs I have.:thumb2:

I've got shoot out the lights and I agree it is great. I just got a tribute album of a pile of folks covering his songs. I haven't given it a full listen other thna Bonnie Raitt covering "When the spell is broken".
She reheats it to nearly lukewarm, missing Thompson's visceral reading of the pain. kind of quelle dommage. I'm not sure anyone could cover his stuff, it will be interesting to see how it goes. |
Have you checked eBay?

I use Amazon and have not had any issues and am properly paranoid about this stuff.
Be sure to download CleanUp from freedownloads.com and use it every time you are on-line. |
Overstock.com. It's listed as an import, which might explain the scarcity. It's also only $16 at Overstock versus $19 at Amazon. I don't know how the shipping rates compare.
