2/15: Coyote hops public transportation

Real Men Don't Kill Coyotes! In Portland, OR, this little guy ran onto a light rail car at the airport and found a seat. Unfortunately, lacking pockets and/or opposable thumbs, he could not pay the fare. He was lassoed by a wildlife official, and was eventually released into a field nearby, where he reportedly bounded away running after field mice.

Its true! Portland IS a model for user-friendly public transportation. It serves the full community.

If he is keeping the field mice population under control, he should get a free ride, IMHO.

Thanks to SD - this lil guy gets to be seen again. Kind of amazing that he would actually run onto a rail car.

This thread must have been in the days before recipes.

He does look young and tender - hmmm.

He later went downtown and stowed away on an Acme Bus Line coach to
Arizona. He transferred onto the wrong bus there. After licking his wounds, he made his way to
Colorado, where he got a complimentary ride on, uh, Coyote Bus Lines. From
the Coyote depot southwest of Chicago's Loop, he hopped CTA up to
the Wicker Park neighborhood. The spring edition of the party he was looking forward to had been moved
downtown. Walking between the Wacker Drive Riverwalk and South Michigan Avenue party venues, he popped into
this great Quiznos shop down by the Art Institute.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "Hey, can somebody help me out with a bottlecap here?"

If he can buy a Starbucks he should have paid the fare.

Not one coyote ugly joke?

DanaC 05-27-2008 04:14 PM

He's lying on that seat in the same pose as pilau on my sofa when he's upset.

Interesting that this is from Portland. I don't typically think of coyotes as forest dwellars, even forest dwellars forced to become urbanites.

Who said forest?
He came in on the 4:30 from Salt Lake City!
