A lunar Moth in the yard .
This is a lunar Moth I found in the yard today ,
Nice pic I thought I would share , http://static.flickr.com/49/146397616_d4d4b9d5c2_o.jpg |
When I was a kid we found a luna moth caterpillar. They are truly insane looking. We tried to watch it metamorphose, but it died.
|
It winked at me. Ahhhhhhhhhhh:bolt:
|
Thank you so much for sharing this.
|
Too cool Zippy, we dont have pretty Moths like that here.
|
I never know which eye to look at when I'm talking to it.

I think it's laughing at me.

No, dear. It's laughing with you.

cool luna moth factoid:
They have no mouth parts, they don't eat. They live for about a month during which time they try to mate before they run out of steam. |
Wow, footfootfoot, I have to apologize for my uncharitable thoughts of B***S*** when I saw your post, and I do, but you are right! Amazing (not that you're right, but that the moth has no mouth parts and does not eat. Dayum.) For those who remain skeptical, here is a picture of the head of a Luna Moth taken with a microscope. **Double take alert** This image may be NSFW for those with active imaginations. You have been warned.
