Pasta Salad

Everyone in the Cellar is MAKING ME SOOOOO MAD! that I'm gonna go make the best pasta salad on the face of the Earth, and yes, it IS via Betty Crocker--that is how pissed off I am!

SteveDallas 04-21-2006 12:37 PM

Well I sympathize, but I'm curious--why pasta salad? Why not a BLT, or a fruit salad, or a corned beef sandwich, or a pound cake?

Trilby 04-21-2006 12:44 PM

i hear and understand you, SteveDallas. The reason (the v., v
emotional reason) for the pasta salad is thus: It is easy. I happen to have all the necessary ingredients, No one but ME likes it, it is soothing (like mac and cheese on a winter's day) and mayonnaise seperates us from animales.

Tomato soup, in a mug. 2-3 minutes in the microwave.

jinx 04-21-2006 01:03 PM

Black beans and rice, cooked on the stove, topped with istara and hot green salsa.
I love you Bri. I hope the oh-my-fucking-god-just-shut-up-ness of the cellar ends soon, I'm not enjoying it either. (and yet I keep clicking on shit, apparently adding to the illusion that certain threads are "doing well")

Add some sauteed onion to that and melt in a slice of american cheese for something a little more complex but equally as relaxing.

not you, cookie. Never you. ;)

Hey Bri, could you maybe post the recipe when you get a chance? Pasta salad is one of those things I either love or hate very very much, and I've never found a good recipe to just make my own.

When I'm down and feeling blue nothing does the trick like a can of smoked oysters, a box of Cheese Its and a beer. Or two. Ok three.

Well, I start with Betty Crocker--creamy Italian. Instead of 1/2 cup mayo for the mix, I use 1/4 cup mayo, 1/4 cup sour cream and a little bit of half and half to make creamier. Then I add peas, carrots and cubes of Mozarella and a sliced, hard-cooked egg on top. Very, very yummy. You can add pepperoni, olives and tomatoes if you're feeling adventurous, but I don't.

Your comfort food gives me explosive diarhea. I'm so upset, I'm going to lose myself in a press of coffee.

You tickle my funnybone Brianna :)

Everyones ideas sound yummy.Esp the beer and the oysters.:yum:
but I have one that is a take off from jinx's beans and rice.

I made this last week. It was so simple yet delicious.

Sauté onions and celery. You can add bell peppers if you want. Add precooked brown rice. Stir . Add a meat. I added shrimp but you could add sausage or anything you have really , then season to taste with a creole seasioning. ( I cheat and buy all the spices already mixed) Paprika, chili powder, onion, garlic for starters. Anyone probably has those.

Last pasta salad I made was very similar to Bri's recipe. (you gotta love it) I tried two new ingredients as suggested by a friend. Try adding carrots chopped very snall and bacon bits. Really does something for the texture and the little bits of carrot stay crunchy for days. I also like to sprinkle parmesan on top....
