iPod Nano
These guys tried to find out how hard it would be to accidently break an iPod Nano.
1- Sitting on the iPod nano 2- Dropping it while jogging (4-6mph), 3- Dropping at various speeds: 8-10mph (slow bicycle), 15-20mph (fast bicycle), 30mph (slow car), and 50mph (fast car) 4- Dropping the nano from various heights. 5- Running over it with a car. It kept on ticking. When they finally killed it, time for an autopsy. Ever wonder what's inside? |
The dropping at various speeds test is a kind of silly one, imho. All it tests is abrasion resistance, not impact resistance.
I'm pretty impressed at how well it does, though. |
Hey, 15-20 mph is a fast bicycle - that makes me feel good - never classed myself as a speed cyclist before!
If you tried to do any of this to wifey's iPod, I can guarantee your life would enter the high risk of termination phase. She's bad enough with the white pseudo-leather sleeve that seems to find itself going through a 60degC wash cycle if it so much as gets a stain on it - gets far more washing machine attention than any of the other real laundry. So God help you if you tried to come within even 10 feet of the actual player! |
I saw a nano up close and personal for the first time last week. Too damned small, IMO...I'll stick with my big ol' clunky video iPod, thank you very much. :)
