College Basketball

Gerry McNamara was called over-rated by the assistant coaches at Syracuse last week. So far this week he's knocked off three teams, including number 1 UConn, with three pointers in the closing moments.

That is the essence of good coaching.

Griff 03-12-2006 06:38 AM

As of last night, it got them all the way through the Big East Tourney! They came in as the nine seed.

barefoot serpent 03-14-2006 05:02 PM

my final four:
ATLANTA - Duke(1)
OAKLAND - Kansas(4)
WASHINGTON,DC - Illinois(4)
MINNEAPOLIS - Villanova(1)

Two 1s and two 4s make it to the final dance.

Go 'Hawks!

We just drew randomly in our pool. #16 Southern U. #13 Iona #15 Davidson #9 Wisconsin

That's not too good is it?

well, at least there's lots of feet to try on the glass slipper:headshake

jojo 03-15-2006 10:21 PM

can anyone play? i'll come in with these 4: duke (ho hum, tell me something new), villanova ('bout time), gonzaga (cuz they huuungry), and illinois (cuz my granny lives there and i'm just not that impressed with uconn or tn). but since they let in winthrop and air force, and left out cincinnati, i say it's anybody's game!

Winthrop only lost by 2 so now look for 'Ta State to finish off TN:)
and then...

jojo 03-16-2006 11:22 PM

here in sin-cinnati all of the xavier boys were talking about how "unsportsmanlike" morrison from gonzaga was in today's game. they gave him props, but said his mouth was even bigger than his game. so...maybe they won't make it in with an attitude leading the way. but whadya think about montana?! (whisper)did you know they had a basketball team?

barefoot serpent 03-17-2006 10:12 AM

Xavier vs. Gonzaga -- The Vatican Classic (other than BC vs. ND) UCLA can end the 'zags run. And, speaking of BC, Montana will be trying on the slipper there. But another 12th seed TX A&M will want to try it on, also.

And, yes Cinncy should of had So. Alabamas berth, or maybe even Oklahomas.

jojo 03-18-2006 07:55 AM

ehh, they'll take the NIT and have another banner to hang. and then the selection committe will say, "hmmm, i wonder if Hugs would come back". really? Tx A&M? the great and not so great thing about this tournament, is that there are always huge upsets early on (great), but in the end it always comes out the way we all expected (not so great). but that's me - i love a good upset. take NW State and Bradley for example, just plain fun!

Do you know why Northern Iowa's band serenaded Bucknell's players and coaches when they returned to their hotel in Oklahoma City last year? Kansas does. It's No Surprise to Bucknell - Patriot Tournament Champ Ousts No. 8 Seed Arkansas

Bucknell U for the final four. I watched Villanova play Monmouth U. I was not impressed. I watched UConn eventually subdue Albany - unimpressive. Meanwhile, who beat Syracuse? Bucknell.

barefoot serpent 03-20-2006 09:48 AM

At least one Killer B made it to the Sweet 16. Memphis had better be prepared. The MVC rocks!

And too bad 'Ta State and GMU will have to end a run at it.
