Hamburger Helper

Did anyone notice they put less noodles/sauce into the box of hamburger helper? It's down to 158 grams from 200. The price is the same (of course). On the box it now has other assorted foods, as a suggested serving; one way to trick the consumer that your pound of hamburger isn't going as far as it used to.

.79 lb of hamburger you mean.

Cutbacks are happening everywhere.

It's in keeping with the reduction of the number of letters in the name of the product previously known as "Hamburger Helper", now known as "Helper".

Try this - doesn't take that long to make, either

Why is it called hamburger helper, when it isn't for making hamburgers? *confused*

Pete Zicato 09-24-2013 07:39 AM

Ground beef helper didn't have the alliteration.

Clodfobble 09-24-2013 09:11 AM

You would call it Mincemeat Helper.

Undertoad 09-24-2013 11:43 AM

Mincemeat Mate.

DanaC 09-24-2013 12:33 PM

Ahhhh. Ok, that makes sense. And, yeah, 'mate' rather than helper :)

limegreenc 09-24-2013 09:12 PM

Basically yeah to the above. I use a 1/4 pound of beef and pork, add fresh mushrooms and onion plus a cup of frozen vegetables. Now that'll feed a family.

I was recently told about a recipe called sausage stretcher which does much the same thing with bangers (cue doubles entendres).

sausage stretcher

Welcome to our new game, "Is that a term on Urban Dictionary?"

(sausage stretcher is not on Urban Dictionary.)

DanaC 09-25-2013 02:50 PM

Ahh yeah. 'Stretcher' would be even more likely than 'mate', thinking about it.

On the other hand, "undertoad" is. The most popular definition is roughly what one would expect, referencing The World According to Garp.

The second definition, however...

Quote:

(noun) A wrinkly toad that lives in disgusting woman's vagina. If a penis penetrates a vagina inhabited by an undertoad, it is at risk of being bitten off, eaten, and/or savagely mauled. Most undertoad have rows of many razor-sharp teeth, the better to ravage upon your male genitalia and/or objects of pleasure.

Broman: ew, ugh, dude, that chick last night had an undertoad. almost got my dick bit off.

Brosephine: i almost got an undertoad once. turns out i was just giving birth to a small baby shark.

Nope. It was just the more obvious sausage that was up for grabs, so to speak.
