How'd you like to meet this guy in a moonlit forest?

This dancer was photographed by someone called Oneshotww, at a powwow, in Fredericksburg, TX.

Posted on Wunderground.

Wow, Phantom of the Dance.

That is eerily...beautiful.

SPUCK 05-15-2008 04:20 AM

It would be bad cuz if I was wandering thru a moonlit forest I would likely be packin heat.

Trilby 05-15-2008 07:13 AM

I would love it. Esp. if it was Elspode all dressed up for Beltane.

Dancer

He is magnificent.

HungLikeJesus 05-15-2008 09:12 AM

What's eating his head?

skysidhe 05-15-2008 09:38 AM

Forest?

HungLikeJesus 05-15-2008 09:59 AM

The photo seems to be defective. There's a diagonal stripe across his chest that looks out of place.

runswithknives 05-15-2008 10:28 AM

Yeah i noticed that also. Just slide that stripe down a couple cm and abracadabra, all better.

This reminds me of the creature from "The Village."

That's Edward Featherhands!

xoxoxoBruce 05-15-2008 11:18 AM

Yeah, I don't know what that's about? It doesn't show in this picture.

[speculation] The photographer said, "Almost every time I tried to get a pic of this dancer, he had a camera up to his face taking photos of others, LOL."
Maybe he was trying to photoshop out a camera strap, where the color picture was taken during a dance. [/speculation]

Cloud 05-15-2008 11:28 AM

well, but . . . he's not actually dancing.

xoxoxoBruce 05-15-2008 11:30 AM

Well but, he is. :p

A friend of mine in college was way into the Native American cultures and the local powows--back in the day, you can be certain he would have been at this particular one in Fredericksburg, but I don't know if he keeps up with it anymore... anyway, a couple of us were out driving in his girlfriend's car (he had no license because he was blind in one eye, but that's another story) and we got pulled over by a state trooper. He starts sweating bullets, and doesn't calm down until the speeding ticket's been written and the guy is long gone. We asked what was up, since this kid was the last person on Earth to be holding drugs or anything.

Turns out he had his authentic headdress in the trunk from a recent powow. As customary, it had real eagle feathers on it. These were collected from birds which were already dead, but it doesn't matter: they're completely illegal, and carry a multi-thousand-dollar fine per feather. City cops wouldn't know or care what they were looking at, but the state troopers around the rural areas where the powows are held usually do.

I think Native Americans are granted certain exceptions for religious purposes though
