The First "Musician"

Wouldn't it be neat if America had a position know as the "first musician". Just to set the standard. As it stands know we just have a free for all of Music. If this were an actual job either elected by the people or appointed by the first lady, maybe there would be less communication failures.

We used to have a first musician (on the violin); but, Jack Benny died. The heir apparent would seem to be Steve Martin on the banjo.

Kind of like a Poet Laureate.

Why is this thread in politics?

Pete Zicato 12-12-2011 09:32 AM

It's a naive position, JB. We've had a First Lady for a long time now, and I haven't noticed an improvement in US housekeeping over the years.

GunMaster357 12-12-2011 10:12 AM

Since such a position would be fulfilled either by election or appointment, it will be subject to politics.

Would you like it so much to have a "first musician" like Miss Perry harping about her last friday night (binge drinking, a stranger in her bed, no rememberance but yet it surely was great) ?

isn't the Grammys enough?

I think Adele was the big winner this year

Can they be an immigrant?

"I came to this country with nothing except the clothes on my back and a song in my heart. And a pony."

In a symphony you have a conductor don't you... what we have now is a symphony of destruction... "you take a mortal man an put him in control, watch him become a God and watch heads start to roll.." wouldn't it be so much more civil if there were a "symphony of survival" or some sort of "symphony of political sanity".. that's change I can believe in..

"one would like to believe in the freedom of music but glitter and prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity" RUSH

You ever heard Symphony for the Devil?

You'd end up with some crap lowest common denominator musician like the aforementioned Perry, Niki Minaj, or Taylor Swift. Democracy barely works for politics, it should never be introduced to anything dealing with aesthetics. Why this fascination with hierarchy?

I like the edge it gives.. the leading edge.. I was in a club in high school called pit, something to do with politics but I forgot what it stood for so I renamed it "p-olitics i-n t-echnology" I dunno if you are ever going to make a difference in the world you have to have political connections, (of which I have none) but it's fun to pretend..
