This image has been all over the net. The photographer has been accused of using photoshop or otherwise manipulating the image. She assures one and all that she has not. This spectacular photo of a tree was taken by Carol Lynn Fraser of Edmonton, AB, Canada. You can read her statement here. |
Looks limb-er

I believe.
We're all interconnected, you know. This is Mother Nature having a bit of fun. Good for Her. |
Great Abba song, too.
So, if it's all real...where's the tree? Seems that would clear it up pretty quickly: I was standing 'here' and it was night. Oh yeah, I can see it too! I guess it IS real. |
I want to know if it has a belly-button.

Signed by "Mother Erte". :-)

I want to know if it's only seventeen.

Ooh - maybe it's somewhere she wasn't supposed to be... |
The lighting in the pic didn't come from the camera, it came from left of the photographer. As if the tree is lit by artificial lighting all the time, as in a permanent display of some sort. Like some place displaying trees/shrubbery trained to grow in certain ways, perhaps.

However from what I was able to find, my understanding is that the photographer actually took this photo quite a long time ago, and it was just sitting around for years before The Internet finally took notice of it. Point being, even assuming the tree did once look like this (not that I'm doubting it, let me clarify) it most likely no longer does. Even if it still exists at all. (The photo was also, FWIW, apparently taken by her while she was travelling around on vacation. So it's possible she doesn't even remember exactly where the tree was - I pretty much stopped my investigation after getting that far.) |
Mr P, I salute your investigations sir.
