OJ

Does anyone bother with frozen, condensed orange juice anymore?

When I was a kid, we either drank fresh squeezed (yummy); or frozen, made in the blender. This made it all frothy and creamy, which was pretty good for a frozen product.

Nowadays, I mostly drink pulp free from a refrigerated container.

What's your fave?

I think that OJ definitely killed Nicole.

For beverage I prefer Simply Orange pulp free. I don't like to chew juice.

momwolf has insisted on the frozen concentrate on occasions, because, she claims, she is concerned over the weight of the OJ containers. Then she drank some, and stopped being concerned over how heavy a half-gallon of juice was.

This, incidentally, from a woman who has no sense of smell or taste, so there really is a difference.

I switched to free Odwalla Tangerine juice at work. Tastier and did I say free? You should give that a try...Not only does it go down smoother than orange juice, you almost feel 20 percent healthier just drinking it.

:)

"she likes taaaangerines".

I haven't had the frozen concentrate in years. I remember when they came out with the cartons of OJ, the difference was like night and day. Frozen concentrate is not very good.

The free part makes a big difference. I try to avoid paying $3-4 for less than 16 ounces.

Frozen oj is good for mixed drinks, imo. Otherwise, I avoid most juices -- too much empty sugar.

I like my orange juice with pulp. Apparently I'm the only one--nobody else in my family does either.

a little pulp is awesome. I hate the gobs and gobs of pulp though.

I get the Shop Rite brand in the 1/2 gallon size - 3 for $5.00 and that beats the hell outta any nat'l brand's price. It is fortified with calcium too.

I like pulp in orange juice. Texture is important to me in food. :)

That being said, we don't have OJ that often. Mandarine juice is nicer I think, but besides that, as Pie said, it's very high in sugar, even if there's no additives. We usually just drink plain water at our place, sometimes with a bit of lime or lemon juice squeezed in for flavour.

We used to have the frozen concentrate OJ as a kid because my brother was an orange juice fiend and would drink ridiculous amounts of the stuff. He would also eat it straight out of the little tube with a spoon.

Me, I don't really like orange juice. But sometimes I do pour it into an ice cube tray and crunch it.

DucksNuts 01-15-2009 07:12 PM

I like pulp in my juice too.

I tend to avoid juice and make myself actually eat an orange, but I do have a small bottle of juice (usually pineapple) every couple of days.

I do encourage smoking sex partners to drink gallons of pineapple juice though :)

Drink milk.

Oj will kill ya.

jinx 01-15-2009 07:40 PM

I buy the individual little boxes of Tropicana + calcium and vitamins for the kids.
I like OJ but don't drink much of it myself, definitely wouldn't drink frozen concentrate.
