I have to agree with the above there. You are rotten if you ask your friends to stay stranded with you on an island. Of course I am a sociopath so I think "differently" about these things.

I choose my friends -- that is friends, plural -- because eventually they would help me figure out how the hell to get off the island!

Let me amend my previous answer.

There are days when I would WISH to be stranded on an island with nothing but music.

Those are the days when the people in my life are driving me NUTS.

In other words, 364 out of the year.

I'd choose my friends, the good ones who'd make excellent breeding stock and we'd forge our own civilization and all live happily ever after.

The rest of you can go sit in a sound booth for all we care.

If it was a tropical island, with food and water, I'd forgive you for stranding me there. But only if you had some good music.... (records? wtf are you gonna play them on?)

I've got these coconut shells we can clap together? Besides we could dress your husband up in a grass skirt when we get bored.

We could make instruments out of palm trees. For reeelz. :)

Bwahhaaa...Homeless Guy and I were at a restaurant along the river, well actually in the bar downstairs...he glanced out the window and for some reason there was a soccer ball floating down the river. Without missing a beat he cries "Willllsonnnnnnnnn!"

Well, you didn't say the island was actually deserted, or if there was electricity. What good would it do to take music with you if there is no way to play it? Besides, if you have friends with you, you can make your own music. that's always more fun. :D

Any amount of music you brought (assuming there's a way to play it on an island with no other people) will get repetitive after enough time.

I'd bring my friends, and we'd have a crazy rube goldberg house going in no time. Plus, about half of my friends are fellow circus performers so we'd never get bored.

And if I could get all those friends to stick a deck of cards in their pockets, I'd really be set.

Fortunately, most of my really good friends are musicians, so I'd keep my friends, and we'd jam a lot.

My friends are all pretty much musicians or musically inclined... so to have them... is to have music.
