February 2, 2007: Moose comes to stay

http://cellar.org/2007/moose1.jpg

A lurker sent these along before Christmas, and they sat in the queue for a while and then got LOST, but here they are found again, and the set has not gotten the attention they deserve from the net. (Plus, I think the lurker may have signed up for a real Cellar account... speak up now if you want credit!)

The story goes:
Quote:

When this little guy was young; he lost his mother too soon.

So the Fish and Game brought him to Wendall and Debbie. They asked them to get him raised to a safe age to turn him loose again. So they bottle fed and took care of him; after a while they fed him with their cows.

So last Spring he was a year old ... and it was time to turn him back into the wild. Opened the gate and off he went.

Stayed gone all summer; then this fall he was back with the cows. He really thinks he is a cow for now, all were happy to see him as he is pretty friendly.

He loves honey buns and will eat them right out of your hand. Wendall and Debbie live right up in the mountains so it came time to bring the cows down.

Well the moose was lonely all by himself so he headed down to find another heard of cows to hang with.

The neighbors called about a week later and asked Wendall to please come and get his Moose. So he headed out with a honey bun, bucket of grain and the horse trailer and brought him back home.

The moose is free to go anytime he wants but is choosing to stay put for now. Surely, come spring he will start to feel a bit like a male Moose and take off, but for now he is happy.

Looks like they have at least several neighbors. Wonder how they feel about a bull moose wandering the 'hood.
This is not Bullwinkle. :worried:

1. My work computer had the subject line truncated to "Moose comes...", so I was pleased to see that this was not, in fact, moose porn.

2. Anybody else think the guy with the moose looks like UT?

3. Oh my God! The moose killed Mr and Mrs Claus!!!

When I was in AK, the people there all said the same thing when we went for hikes. Don't worry so much about the bears. Just roll up in a ball and stay still and they will move on.
But if you see a Moose...run like hell! Thoses critters will keep chasing you until they get you if you aren't far enough ahead.

I loved this! Thank you UT.

What's that big brown ball on the deck, there? You don't suppose its a big doughball, ready to be rolled into crust for moose turd pie?
