Sept 13, 2009: Wine Cellar
Not just any old wine Cellar, the world's largest wine Cellar, verified by Guinness.
20 miles from the capitol of Moldova, the State Enterprise Quality Wines Industrial Complex “Milestii Mici”, has a wine Cellar that stretches over 200km. But only 55km are in use so far, holding over 2 million bottles. http://cellar.org/2009/milestii-mici.jpg Moldova has been making wine for 5000 years. They've also been mining limestone for buildings, all over Europe, for centuries. In 1969 the government starting bringing the wine from all the vintners to this central location at the mines, to be tested, evaluated, stored in huge Oak casks, the bottled for shipment all over the world. Just once....
I am an extremely causal wine drinker but just once I would like to try something extraordinary. Never really thought about that until reading this entry....
