Booyah! We had a 16-pounder as IotD in February, so news of this 17-pounder had to make the site as well. The Mail via Neatorama has the details on this lass, Nadia, born by c-section in Siberia.

I guess the first eleven make womb room? Anyway, this is not a record, but still notable. Especially for the look on the kid next door, who must feel inadequate.

That looks like a really loud baby.

P.S. I thought it was a girl.

Not uncommon in twin and multipul births for one fetus to steal blood supply from the others. Pretty common.

The other's baby's eyes are open (rare!) cause he's like "dayum, what they feedin' you in there, Life cereal??"

No, many open their eyes right away if you cover their heads from the bright light. They cannot focus immediately. In a week or so they can focus about to the lenght of their arms.

Oh yeah, I forgot what it was like to be 3 minutes old, thanks Merc :)

It really is funny looking at that little baby looking at the big baby...

"Somebody tell that baby to quit acting like a crybaby and give it a big bottle of shutthefuckup!"

She wasn't a twin, though, was she? the other baby is just an innocent bystander wheeled in for size comparison, methinks.

And no, it isn't rare for babies to have their eyes open when they're awake. And who could sleep through that racket?

The day my wife was born there was a lady that had a 16lb baby naturally.
At least her mom told me naturally... I still try not to imagine it.

So, she's a Siberian... husky?

I'm waiting for the IOTD entitled "Man births 17lb baby".... now that would be something to gawp at.

That's gotta be a diabetic mom ... with twelve kids. (Gestational diabetes produces biiigg babies.)

Hope the older kids do housework. I once took care of a postpartum mother of twelve who was working on a beautiful piece of handwork when I made rounds in the evening. The nurse came in and asked how she managed the time to do such beautiful work with twelve children ... the mom looked at her and said, 'My dear, with twelve children, I don't DO housework!'.

Well if he goes for natural child birth, I don't want to see it!!!

Like passing a watermelon through a straw!

What do you get when a pregnant woman has a colostomy operation? A womb with a view!!
