WTF Does Your Car Look Like RFN?

WTF Does Your Cat Look Like RFN?
I can't believe you car dudes missed this one!

My car is covered in yellow pollen spots from the banksia flowers exploding. You definitely don't want to see that.

Recently got my car home from the mechanic's ...where it had been for 15 months... My bad. I told him to 'take his time, I wasn't in a rush.' Who knew my 3-5mo expectation of taking time/no rush wasn't in-line with his way of thinking.
So, while it IS finally home, it is currently sitting inoperable in our garage with the hood up as a reminder to my Husband that he needs to yank out the radiator so I can have the leak repaired.
Gah! 15 months its been gone, finally get to drive it for a total of 15 minutes of total-coolness while driving and enjoying the power of my car... and now I have to wait for ANOTHER repair!
I love my 30yr old car. I love my 30yr old car. I love my 30yr old car...

Can't you get the radiator out yourself HH? Looks like a cool car though. I can imgine you'd be excited about driving it. :)

I sort of don't want him to know I know how to use his tools, because then he will expect me to do more of my own repairs. *wink*

3yrs ago I did take off the upper radiator hose and water neck at the manifold to replace an o-ring, but he came home and installed it himself because he didn't think I could reinstall it correctly.
What's the big deal?
Put it all on in reverse order of how it came off, right? I think he mostly wanted to be sure everything was torqued correctly.

I did take a look at it today to see how accessible the bolts are...it looks fairly simple/straightforward. The fan shroud will have to be removed, possibly the flex fan, too. I'll have to look at my schematic to see about any lower bolts and how accessible they are. If it warms up tomorrow, I just might tackle what I can. IF...I can find the tools I need. Hubby has a very bad habit of not putting things away where they belong when he has finished a project and his (garage) things are rarely where they are supposed to be.
My biggest problem is I don't have much strength/energy and I must be careful about contamination of any injuries. I've got gloves, but there isn't anything I can do about my strength.

Incorrect - they are not where YOU think they should be, but I'll bet he knows where they all are. ;)

Hell, don't let Dar512 see this sexist drivel. I mean, as if some capable woman would fake inability to get a bloke to do stuff for her. Ridiculous.

;) Jus joshin, Dar. Your point was true.

This pic is just over a year old (from registration day) , but this is still what he looks like RFN.

Well... the wing mirrors and grille badges are different now, but y'know, whatever.

I love my 50 year, 5 months and 7 days old car!

DanaC 03-04-2009 04:15 AM

Oh Hagar, that's gorgeous!

The same... except the smoke has cleared.

ZenGum 03-04-2009 07:29 PM

AWESOME! Bruce, is that really yours? If so, I think Hagar is back to second place.

xoxoxoBruce 03-04-2009 10:46 PM

It's the only car I own.

Hagar 03-04-2009 11:56 PM

I'll take second behind a Chevy coupe anyday! (It's a 57, right?) I fell in love with them when I was about 5 and dad gave me two model kits, a Black 57 Bel-air convertible and a Blue 55 2 door. Real ones are ridiclulously expensive over here now! You could but 10 Morris Minors for one Restored Chev.

Thanks for your kind words guys. :)

xoxoxoBruce 03-05-2009 01:09 AM

Yeah, '57, but I don't think this is a contest. What is the 2nd badge from the right?
My homeroom teacher, when I was a sophomore in high school, drove a white Morris minor which was unusual at the time in suburban/rural Massachusetts. She was a hot blond right out of teachers college and we'd try to position ourselves so we could watch her unreeling her 6' 1" self from that car. Unfortunately miniskirts hadn't come around then.

Oh, and watching her and her 6' 4" boyfriend from Westover AFB getting in and out was a hoot too.
