I wonder if the addiction rate is the same as the use rate?

Clodfobble 09-04-2020 01:30 PM

Also worth noting that they're comparing a rate to a hard number, which always makes for bad data. The population has increased significantly from 1970 to 2010, so even though the addiction percentage has stayed roughly the same, the resulting number of addicted people will have been growing each year.

The chart would have to be # of addicts vs. dollars spent, or else percentage of the population who are addicted vs. percentage of the annual budget (or whatever) that is spent on fighting drugs.

A big hunk of that money had nothing to do with drugs. Here, have a tank for your PD to fight the war on drugs. We need a kennel for the sniffer dog, he keeps snorting our coke.

So no uptick for heroin and over the counter painkillers or would that be more recent? Maybe this chart is why we needed oxycodone?

Gravdigr 09-05-2020 10:26 AM

They had me on 10 mg oxycodone every three hours for 11 days.

I was not impressed.

Moving to stronger drugs you're still a single point in the data.

I used to go with a girl taking 80mg of Oxy a day. She had to call the drugstore a day ahead so they could get it, as they refused to have it in the store overnight. They had to sell her two 40mg and not allowed to substitute four 20mg or eight 10 mg. She had to pick it up herself with a photo ID, even if she called and said she wanted to send someone else.
Lots of hoops to get it legally, but of course tons going out the back door of Big Pharma. They had to move it to make room for the cash.

WalMart pharmacy wouldn't fill my (oxycodone) prescription as it was written. They wanted to throw the doctor's intentions for my treatment out the window and use their own dosing/timing.

They're not my pharmacy anymore. Another pharmacy, when asked if they were going to do the same thing, looked at me and asked 'Why would we do such a thing? We can't just disregard doctor's orders.'

That one is my pharmacy now.

Diaphone Jim 09-06-2020 11:38 AM

Sort of a riff on the oxy thread was a doctor I had who prescribed two antibiotics for me with the demand that I take as she said and disregard the labeling and anything the pharmacist might add.
They made me sick as hell and she was gone for the week.
That one is not my doctor now.

Upside down body, 2 rears with 2 electric motors to spin the wheels on the top.
4 cyl chevy drive motor, 2 seats and smoked glass in the back door to see .
Only drives it to and for parades and fairs, and claims it's street legal but that's bullshit.
Red lights on the front and no red lights on the back, man that's not legal anywhere.
