America's first full facial transplant recipient is looking good. And he can smell! As this surgery goes from strength to strength, it becomes obvious just how "worth it" it is.

Im pretty amazed to learn that his nerves will merge with the donated tissue.

Incredible.
Apparently the military have funded much of this, as they're hoping that such techniques can be used with injured soldiers. I think that's fucking awesome. So often the big story is that soldiers have been let down, abandoned or disregarded after their service has been brought to a violent end. |
He looks like a guy I used to know.... but the guy died.

Sorry about the quality of the pics, btw -they're screen dumps from video and it was late, but I wanted to share.

Private Pyle used as a human suit by a space insect. Yep, that's him.

That's a Bug, running around in a brand new Edgar suit. One of my all time favorite movies and some of the best acting I've ever seen. (Vincent D'Onofrio) |
D'Onofrio was also the creepy psychopath in The Cube. I have never been able to watch anything else he's in without thinking of scenes from that movie.

Face transplants for those that are blind must be for those of us that can see. Thank you :)
Only 26, YAY! for him! |
