WTF is the nineties look?
 

as far as I recall it was the decade without style. was in the UK then. Child has to dress nineties one day this week, need help, google didn't enlighten me

Grunge: plaid flannel button-down worn open, over a white crew neck t-shirt, blue (as in actually blue) jeans, black Doc Marten 12-hole shoes.

Big holes in the knees, and with the flannel worn tied around the waist by the sleeves works too.

Just about anything shabby will do. Maybe ask infi to kill a couple hobos and send you their clothes. Make sure the kids' pocket change consists of coins dated in the '90s and earlier.

She doesn't have a penis. She is wearing boycut jeans and the zip is bunched up.

That's how I used to dress in the 90s - jeans with the knees slashed out, with brightly coloured tights underneath, boots and one of my bro's old shirts over a teeshirt.

So funny now, seeing my youngest niece rocking her jeans with the knees cut out.

It might have been different in the US. But we (as in friends and colleagues) wore tight tops, short flared skirts, boots or spray-on trousers. Lace tops were especially popular, but not dressed up as in the 80s.
Platform soles, esp trainers. Tassels and tiaras.

Those pictures above are "Grunge" which was a 90s thing. Easy to do and people will know what you are going for.

But here are publicity shots of the cast of Friends in the mid 90s. They show the kinds of clothes you would see on TV and in mainstream media then. Not quite as dramatic as the grunge look, but baggy comfortable clothes.

I was a hippie in the 90s. And then I was a restaurant manager. And then I was a car salesman. I went from Guatemalan Geenie pants and dashikis to gelled hair and neck ties.
