Jan 9, 2009: Bambis

Friday again, time for warm and cuddly critters.
This week it's cold and cuddly though.

Two fawns waking up to find it had snowed overnight.

I should think they would have been better off in the brush but I guess their mama didn't think so.

Maybe there was scarey things in the bushes?

Poor babies. They must be so cold. :(

Add two big sticks, and you've got a pair of venison popsicles

That reminds me: I need to get a bag of ground venison out of the freezer to make chili tomorrow. I almost forgot.

haha I should post the pic of the two bambis I have hanging off my back porch. They are covered in snow too, but slightly less animated. :)

... and rotate slowly over burning BBQ-coal for a few hours. Serve with home-made bread, 'taters and a couple of good salads.

Generally animals will stay still when in the early morning cold because they conserve energy and I bet the spot underneath them is nice and warm. We may think they look cold but they do have thick skin and a nice warm winter coat.

My cats disagree with you. They always maintain that it is too cold in our apartment; that's why they turn into adorable, snuggly heat-leaches the moment you sit down.

Add a black dress and you could also be talking about any Italian woman over 60. :D

Right. Since the snow isn't melting, their fur is keeping it away from their skin and may actually be an insulator.

See, what ya do is this. Ya stealthily toss a small pebble toward their general vicinity, to sorta spook 'em enough to stand up. That way the arrow can find the heart/lung area much more easily, dontcha see. Then, slice 'em, dice 'em, cover with Worcesterchestersireshire sauce & onions, 350 degrees for 40-45 mins.:D

Damn! You guys are going to be sure to save me some right?
This dish can't be heart healthy. For Bambi I mean.

I think they're just trying to camouflage themselves so as not to be eaten...
