Gulfport, Mississippi
I traveled out to Gulfport from Austin, Texas this weekend to photograph for my newspaper, the Daily Texan. I'd sit here and write all about it, but that's what the pictures are for. I got more, if you want 'em.

Some more scenes from Gulfport. I've never been to a warzone, but with all the bombed-out buildings, blackhawks flying overhead, hum-vees tearing up and down the beach, and surreal debris in the ocean, I felt like I could be in Mogadishu or Mosul.

wow. just wow. a co-worker has a house there. he was lucky, he only lost power and a little water damage. he is, however, looking for 3 of his boats.

The second is in a Catholic elementary school in Bay St. Louis which had flooding up to about 2 and half feet, leaving 2 inches of gray sea muck with a consistency of melted butter.

Caption suggestion for the last one:
"I dunno, Mom...I just clapped my hands, and then...this." You have a keen photographer's eye, BTW. |
