May 6th, 2015: Indigenous Tribes
 

TYWKIWDBI has a map showing the indigenous people of the North Pacific Region in 1880.

A second map shows the US Pacific Northwest with it's numerous Indian tribes.

Thank heavens the white men interceded or we'd be up to our keisters in casinos.

I have marvelled at that map for many years.
It is essentially a distribution of languages and says volumes about the diversity and adaptability of human kind.
As much as anywhere in the New World, the Native American groups as shown in the bottom map were subjected to the most brutal genocide imaginable.
I don't know how high your keister is but I live in the area shown as Pomoan and Yuki and there are five casinos within a 1/2 hour drive, with more to come, and maybe thirty within a couple of hours.
Is there greater density in other parts of the country?

Not on this coast Jim, there were fewer tribes, and we had a couple hundred years head start making them ineligible for federal recognition.

What has a breed of chicken got to do with it ?

I thought all chickens spoke the same language:
" Cluck, cluck, cluck "
which translates to:
" Don't eat me, Don't eat me, Don't eat me "

No dummy, cluck cluck cluck means eet mor bef.

I suspect it started in the Nooksack and spread to the Kootenai.
