Quit Suing God

That infinite patience underwent another test today:
Quote:

Nebraska state senator sues God

LINCOLN, Neb.—The defendant in a state senator's lawsuit is accused of causing untold death and horror and threatening to cause more still. He can be sued in Douglas County, the legislator claims, because He's everywhere.

State Sen. Ernie Chambers sued God last week. Angered by another lawsuit he considers frivolous, Chambers says he's trying to make the point that anybody can file a lawsuit against anybody.

Chambers says in his lawsuit that God has made terroristic threats against the senator and his constituents, inspired fear and caused "widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants."

How did he serve God with the papers?

Well at least his heart's in the right place. Even if he's just contributing to the problem.

That is some funny crap. Leave it to a legislator to try to solve a pathetic problem with more pathetic paperwork.

I think DanaC nailed it with this post from another thread.

He's trying to show how screwed up the system is. You can't fix a problem until you identify it.

they've been identified, but someone keeps voting for them.

ooooh, wait, i see what you meant now. nevermind.

He won't really have showed any problem with the system unless he wins. Though, I'm not sure whether "the system" in this case would be law or religion.

glatt 09-18-2007 04:15 PM

Yeah, alright. I can't really defend this guy. He's a buffoon.

Lady Sidhe 09-18-2007 09:40 PM

Hm. I wonder how he would collect if he won? :yelgreedy

And when you think about it, it would really have to be a class-action suit on behalf of all the world's inhabitants.:D

But damn...that's funny. I'm surprised it took so long for someone to think of doing it. And even more surprised that they're actually letting it happen.

I find it interesting, though, that it's GOD he's suing...Not de Debbil.

bluecuracao 09-19-2007 12:55 AM

Indeed...no one ever says they're richer than de Debbil.

If I remember correctly, some prisoners at one of the concentration camps in Europe during World War II put God on trial for neglect and God was found guilty.

piercehawkeye45 09-22-2007 08:46 PM

Supposedly 'God' responded.

But not by a jury of his peers.
