China Great Giant Panada

1 Attachment(s)
The giant panda is universally loved, but this peaceful, bamboo-eating member of the bear family faces many threats. Its population is small and isolated as its traditional forest habitat in southwest China's mountainous areas becomes fragmented. The government has set up more than 30 reserves, but habitat destruction and poaching continues to pose a threat to pandas living outside them. With rapid economic development, it is more important than ever to ensure the giant panda's survival.

The future doesn't look good for the Panda.
Becuase the are very picky eaters it takes a lot of territory to support them. Small changes in climatic conditions could destroy their entire food supply virtuallly overnight.
As long as there is a market for Panda parts, poachers will risk killing them as the do with elephants, rhinos, gorillas, etc.
How much resource, should China spend on Pandas, when there are so many people in need?

Here's my favorite panda picture:

http://www.manga.sk/Informacie/Recenzie/Ranma/Genma.JPG

(Quick explanation: the panda's from a famous Anime called Ranma 1/2, featuring lots of people who transform into animals when hit with cold water. This particular pic is of Genma, a man who turns into a panda. He tends to resort to Wile E. Coyote-esque signs to communicate when stuck in panda form. Yes, it's meant to be funny, and it's one of the more well known anime titles around.)

Enjoy. I thoroughly recommend the series, even for people who aren't really into anime.

In Sichuan Province we built one protective area with international aid. The park is very large. There are many pandas in the park. The scientists research and study to find one good way to protect, save and help them reproduce. In several national zoo there are some pandas to let people to see. I don't know how muny panadas live in China now. I think the government should protect panda live in the nature. In China I heard the people liked eating monkey brain and bear soles, not people liked eating panda. Prohibit any one to eat them.
